“Any two or more people from the same household, on the mat together.”
That is the whole rule. A parent and their child. Both parents. A grandparent and a grandchild. Sibling pairs — and if both are under 8, an adult comes on the mat with them.
It is also the Academy’s official make-up class. Missed your regular night? Come to Family Class.

Sensei Luke shares the greatest depth of knowledge I have ever had the opportunity of learning. This style offers a balance of traditional style/form and practical defence. I also bring my 3 kids to this dojo. I can’t recommend enough.

Your child’s membership
is the ticket
If your child holds an active membership, you train alongside them in Family Class at no cost.
Free applies when Family Class is your only class and you hold no membership of your own — it is a way to train with your child, not a membership in disguise. A waiver is required before your first class.

Your first class
Family Class is a real class, not a novelty. You will learn the same technique your child learns, at a pace that works for whoever is on the mat.

Arrive 10 minutes early
Time to sign in, meet us and settle in without rushing.

Wear comfortable clothes
Anything you can move in, plus a water bottle. That’s the whole list.

No Gi (Uniform) needed
Nothing to buy before you start — we’ll have one to try on if you’d like.

Meet your instructor
They’ll introduce themselves, learn your name, and walk you through what’s coming.

Every first class is built so you finish having done one thing well.
