Karate Classes
on the Sunshine CoastTraditional, Family-Run · Ages 3 to 50+
Most parents don’t come to us looking for martial arts. They come looking for confidence for a shy kid, focus for a busy one, resilience for one who gives up easily — or a way to get the whole family off screens and moving. Karate is simply the best vehicle we know for building those things, and it’s all we do.
Sensei Luke Power
Sensei Luke has over 35 years in Karate, beginning his training at the age of 11. He was graded to 5th Dan in Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Karatedo and continues to train under Shihan Denis Purvis and the modern day Karate masters of today.
He founded Karate Academy of Power to teach Karate properly — with the discipline, respect and depth of a real dojo, and none of the gimmicks. Whether it's a nervous four-year-old, a teenager finding their feet, an adult beginner or an experienced Kudo fighter, his focus is the same: bring out the best in every student, at their own pace.
That approach is what our students talk about most — patient, genuine instruction in a dojo that feels like a community.
Real Karate, with a real standard behind it
We teach traditional Karate — an unbroken lineage from the style’s founders in Japan to our floor — recognised by the Australian Karate Federation. Belts here are earned, never given; our advanced programs open by invitation, based on effort and character. Our instructors remain students themselves, still training and still being graded — because a dojo is only as honest as its own learning.
A clear pathway from 3 years old to black belt and beyond
Wherever your family starts, the next step is always visible.
The only Kudo dojo on the Sunshine Coast
For experienced martial artists, we’re home to the region’s only Kudo program — genuine full-contact budo combining striking, throwing and grappling — officially affiliated with the Kudo International Federation, Japan.
